Came across a couple of articles today on how to design and deliver bad PowerPoint presentations.
I like the idea of taking the opposite approach. It gets you to think about what you do yourself that may be sabotaging your presentations.
I don't like the example on reasonable use of animations. Having a quote appear out of a book is not a good use of animation. Quotes have a widely accepted form.
Animation should be used sparingly. I can see it being useful to show transitions over time. An example could be how web traffic increases with each SEO tactic employed.
I would also suggest not using templates at all. Templates have a tendency of consuming 20-30% of your screen real estate. Have each slide be all about the content. Make 1 point per slide as an image, graph, or highly focused piece of text.
