This weekend saw the culmination of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest. Each member of Toastmasters has the opportunity to compete with their fellow members to be the World Champion of Public Speaking (WCPS).
This year the contest was held in Calgary, Canada. The 10 finalists are shown here at the Six Minutes site. The winner of the 2009 contest is LaShunda Rundles. It is a sign of the times when you see that she has a MySpace page. By all accounts she gave a wonderful speech. Darren LaCroix and Jim Key, both World Champions have blogged about the contest.
In addition to previous World Champions, Rich Hopkins and Colin William, two of the contestants, are writing about their experiences.
I am looking forward to seeing the DVD of the contest. In addition I am really looking forward to the documentary from Tumbleweed Entertainment about the fear of public speaking. They connected with each of the 10 finalists and followed their progress to the big stage.
